I’m a bit of a guacamole snob. I love guacamole… well, I love my homemade guacamole. And when I go out to a Mexican restaurant I want their guacamole to be just as good. Sometimes they hit the mark, and sometimes I’m a bit disappointed.
I’ll give an otherwise good Mexican restaurant the benefit of the doubt if their guacamole is not up to my standard the first time. In fact, I’ll give them a couple of chances. But at some point, if the guacamole just isn’t that good, then I have got to move on to a new place.
Well I’m happy to report that the guacamole at Taqueria El Antojo, a Mexican restaurant in Lakewood, has great guacamole. They also have another location on the University Place/Tacoma border where Cirque meets 56th, but I can’t swear to quality of that locations guacamole. I can tell you, however, that they have 4.3 stars on Google, so… pretty good reputation. There is a third location on Mckinley Ave in Tacoma and two more locations outside the South Puget Sound area.
As of the date of this writing, we are in the midst of the Covid-19 shut down, so I want to give a shout out to this great little restaurant, and highlight some of the best things about our takeout order.
Three Reasons to Order Mexican Food from Taqueria El Antojo
Easy online ordering and curbside pickup. Our order came out super fast, and we took home a ton of food for the money we spent.
They’re to-go dishes have sections in them, so the beans and the rice don’t touch the main dish. As someone who doesn’t like their food to touch, I appreciate this soooo much! Thank you Taqueria El Antojo!
The food was delicious! They gave us generous servings of sour cream and guacamole, which were kept separate in another container. And like I said above, they got the guacamole right. (Mine is still better, but it’s not a competition.) They also included lime wedges and little containers of hot sauce for our dining pleasure.
So if you are looking for a delicious, quick, and affordable meal for your family, give Taqueria El Antojo a try. You can order online for curbside pick-up right from their website: elantojo.com. Choose the location closest to you, and then make your selections from there.
